Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Chawanda officially welcomed first year students for the August 2024 intake.
Addressing new students at the University’s Fernhill Main Campus in Mutare on Tuesday, Prof Chawanda congratulated them on taking the rightful path of joining MSUAS in advancing with academics.
“I welcome you all to Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences. I hope you are excited to join this lively and vibrant community. As an institution, we are here to give full support as you grow intellectually. This is the beginning of a new journey in your life as you advance your studies. I encourage you to fully utilise the years of university life and uphold discipline. I hope that your studies will not be distracted by among other things such drug and substance abuse and alcoholism. I urge you to commit yourselves to your studies because your parents and guardians are sacrificing a lot in paying your fees. Besides your advancement in academics, this time around you are carrying the MSUAS brand. By deciding to enrol at MSUAS, you chose to be part of MSUAS brand, so we expect you to therefore represent us well,” said Prof Chawanda.
He also encouraged the students to actively participate in extracurricular activities, emphasising on the unique opportunities MSUAS offers for personal and professional growth.
Similar sentiments echoed from the Executive Dean of Students, Mr I.A. Chaka who applauded the students for joining MSUAS in upgrading their professional skills.
The welcome session was also attended by the University’s principal officers, deans and directors.
