Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences Mental Health Counsellor, Tariro Munamati participated at the Mutare Polytechnic Research and Innovation Conference that was held at Forest Hills, Mutare, on the 5th and 6th of July 2024.
Running under the theme “Sustainable Infrastructural Development to Solve National Problems”, the conference focused on Inclusive Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Community Engagements.
Ms Munamati led discussions on Mental Health Education and Wellness in Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET). The event came at a time the University has established a well-resourced Mental Health Centre which focuses on therapy for depression, trauma and anxiety.
“At MSUAS we are intensifying wellness initiatives through counselling services, mindfulness meditation programmes and stress management, among others,” said the MSUAS Counsellor.
The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Professor Fanuel Tagwira, various government officials and academics from Manicaland Province.
