MSUAS STUDENTS’ REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL SWORN IN

Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences Student Representative Council was sworn into office on Friday the 6th of June 2024 at a colourful ceremony held at the Main Campus.

The event marked a crucial moment as the student leaders collectively embraced their positions and solemnly swore to endorse the values of integrity, honesty and hard work.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Chawanda congratulated the new office bearers and implored them to discharge their duties thoroughly, taking cognisant of the fact that SRC constitutes a critical role in the university governance system.

“As purpose-driven leaders, integrity and commitment  play a crucial role in creating meaningful leadership within the university. StudentRepresentative Council remains a critical tool in university governance. It also acts as a force for progress, a voice for the student body, and a catalyst for meaningful impact.,” said the Vice Chancellor.

Professor Chawanda also urged the newly elected SRC to be conscious of the vast responsibilities on their shoulders since they will be representing the interests of all MSUAS students.

In his acceptance speech, the incoming SRC President Gerald Moyo said;

“As the SRC, we will work tirelessly to ensure that MSUAS provides a world-class education system. Our vision is to contribute positively to the University Senate, advocating for the needs, not just of the students, but the whole of MSUAS. We will advocate for improved facilities, a wider range of course offerings, and increased faculty support. We will also push for initiatives that promote critical thinking, innovation, and research skills – which are the hallmarks of a successful graduate.”

The inauguration and oath taking ceremony was attended by staff and students from various faculties and departments within the University.
