Together, Let’s Foster Heritage-Based Education: Chief Makumbe

Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences hosted Chief Makumbe, Chief Chikukwa, Chief Makoni and Chief Ngorima on a familiarisation visit on Monday the 29th of March 2021.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, Hon Senator Chief Makumbe applauded the University for the tremendous infrastructure development happening at the Fernhill Campus. “We are elated by the massive development happening at the University and it is our hope that government will continue to support the University as we built a world-class University that we are all proud of,” said Chief Makumbe.
“As chiefs, our cultural concern is to foster heritage-based education so that the student we produce is entrepreneurial in approach and culturally-rich and grounded. We continue to draw lessons from the Chinese education system which inculcates cultural values throughout the entire education continuum. We would be proud to be part of the luminaries to teach and develop our students in Zimbabwe,” reiterated Chief Makumbe.
The event also saw, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of MSUAS, Professor Albert Chawanda giving a presentation on the state of affairs of the University. “The University takes pride in the collaboration and synergy between its curriculum and heritage as championed by Education 5.0 of Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science, Innovation and Technology Development. This meeting with the chiefs of the province, is in pursuit of this critical development agenda and you remain central in the development affairs of this institution,” said Professor Chawanda.
The meeting was also attended by the University management and staff among them the Executive Dean of Student Affairs, Mr Isheunesu Chaka, the Deputy Bursar, Mr Victor Japu and the Director Marketing, Information and Public Relations, Mrs Shingayirayi Moyo.
