Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) student, Dylan Nyarumwe, delivered an exceptional performance at the recently held Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union (ZTISU) Games, securing gold and silver medals in the 40m race and long jump events respectively.
Nyarumwe, who competes in the T56 and T57 Paralympic categories, showcased remarkable athletic prowess and resilience, standing out among Zimbabweโ€™s finest student athletes at the national event.
Commending his achievement, MSUAS Vice Chancellor, Prof Albert Chawanda, described Nyarumweโ€™s success as a reflection of the Universityโ€™s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals.
โ€œThis outstanding accomplishment at such a prestigious national event underscores the calibre of students we nurture at our university. It demonstrates our commitment to holistic development that extends beyond academic excellence to encompass sporting achievement,โ€ said Prof Chawanda.
โ€œOn behalf of the entire MSUAS community, I congratulate Dylan for raising the University flag high. His dedication, resilience and unwavering spirit have not only brought glory to himself but have also significantly elevated the profile of our university.โ€
The annual ZTISU Games brought together student athletes from tertiary institutions across the country, competing in a wide array of sporting disciplines.
Notably, this yearโ€™s edition marked a milestone by running Paralympic events concurrently with the mainstream competitions, promoting inclusivity and equal recognition of athletes with disabilities.
Nyarumweโ€™s achievement reflects not only personal triumph but also MSUASโ€™ growing reputation as a hub for talent, inclusion, and holistic development.
The University continues to invest in sporting infrastructure and programmes that empower students to pursue their passions and excel beyond the lecture room.
MSUAS remains committed to supporting student success in all spheres โ€” academic, athletic, and personal โ€” and celebrates Nyarumweโ€™s success as an inspiration to the wider university community and beyond.
