The Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) Student Representative Council (SRC) was officially sworn into office on Friday during a colourful ceremony at the Fernhill Campus in Mutare.

The inauguration marked a significant milestone in student governance as the newly elected leaders collectively took their oath, pledging to uphold the values of integrity, honesty, and hard work in the discharge of their duties.

Addressing the gathering, MSUAS Vice Chancellor, Prof Albert Chawanda, congratulated the incoming SRC members and emphasised the critical role they play in the universityโ€™s governance structure.

โ€œThe SRC is the cornerstone of university governance. To the newly elected members, this is not merely an assumption of officeโ€”it is an embrace of significant responsibility, a testament to the leadership qualities you have already demonstrated,โ€ said Prof Chawanda.

โ€œYour role is pivotal in shaping the academic, social, and cultural landscape of MSUAS. As student leaders, you are the custodians of studentsโ€™ welfare.โ€
In his acceptance speech, incoming SRC President Ausely Moses Junior Takundwa reaffirmed the Councilโ€™s commitment to serving the student body.
โ€œAs the incoming SRC President, I represent all students. Our priorities for this term include enhancing student welfare, advancing academic excellence, and fostering a vibrant campus culture that promotes transparency in governance.

Our commitment is to serve each student with integrity, dedication, and an unwavering focus on their needs and aspirations.โ€
The ceremony was attended by staff, students, and representatives from various faculties and departments, reflecting the shared spirit of unity and collaboration that defines the MSUAS community.
