Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) is indeed one of the rapidly expanding institutions of higher learning in Zimbabwe.

It was established by the government through the Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences Act (Chapter 25:31) of 2016. The University is strategically located in Manicaland province, with its two campuses — Fern Hill in Mutare and Headlands in Makoni — capitalising on the region’s agro-economic and geographical advantages.

MSUAS envisions expanding its educational reach with a multi-campus setup. In addition to the existing two campuses, the University plans to establish campuses in Chipinge and Nyanga.

The focus of the university on applied sciences aligns with local resources and the region’s development goals, which are bolstered by the province’s rich agricultural and natural resources. This offers students practical exposure to real-world issues, with opportunities in fields related to agriculture, engineering, technology, and more, preparing them for meaningful contributions to both local and national economic development.

Currently, the University has four faculties, namely, Agribusiness Management, Applied Science and Technology, Applied Social Sciences and Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering houses the following degree programmes:

• BEng Mining and Mineral Processing (Hons) Degree,
• BEng Chemical and Processing (Hons) Degree and
• BEng Metallurgy (Hons) Degree,

The Faculty of Applied Science and Technology offers the following degree programmes:

• BSc Computer Science (Hons) Degree,
• BSc Information Systems (Hons) Degree,
• BSc Applied Statistics (Hons) Degree
• BSc Computer Systems Engineering (Hons) Degree)
• BSc Business Intelligence (Hons) Degree)
• BSc Cyber Security and Forensic Computing (Hons) Degree)

The Faculty of Agribusiness and Management offers the following degree programmes:

• MSc in Tourism and Hospitality
• BSc Agricultural Economics and Development (Hons) Degree,
• BCom Tourism and Hospitality Management (Hons) Degree,
• BCom Accounting (Hons) Degree, and
• BCom Business Management (Hons) Degree

The Faculty of Applied Social Sciences is offering the following degree programmes:

• BSc Psychology (Hons) Degree,
• BSc Human Resource Management (Hons) Degree
• BSc Organisational and Industrial Psychology
