Manicaland State University of Applied Science (MSUAS) Tourism Club embarked on volunteer tourism on the 10th December 2021 at Lerato Children’s Village to handover Christmas presents to children at the village.
The club raised donations from the University community which included clothes, toiletries, kids toys and sports balls. Currently, the Village, which is a registered Care Institution under the Children’s Act Chapter 5:06 Section 31 has 9 children; 5 boys and 4 girls between the ages of 3 and 15 years.
“MSUAS Tourism Club intends to grow the concept of volunteer tourism and extend it to other disadvantaged members of our society. The sole purpose of volunteer tourism to is positively impact on the lives of the disadvantaged within our community. We remain indebted to those who donated to the cause. May the good Lord bless you abundantly,” said Mr Bhasera, the Acting Chairperson of the Tourism and Hospitality Department.
The MSUAS Tourism Club, with a 12-member delegation, was led by Miss Sonelious Chesa (Level 4.1 Tourism Student) the Club Chairperson; Dr G. Makandwa the Club Coordinator; and Mr V Basera. The handover ceremony was held under strict Covid-19 regulations.
