The Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS), Department of Tourism and Hospitality partnered with the Friends of the Vumba Community Trust (FOTV) in an enduring mammoth hike in mountains close to the Fernhill campus.

The Department has a Memorandum of Understanding with FOTV, a voluntary organization, with a mission to protect the serene environment of the Vumba for future generations. FOTV is dedicated to all forms of rock climbing, mountaineering and appreciating the outdoor environment. Mountain climbing can be a relaxed sociable escape from city life, as well as an athletic pursuit for those who wish to push themselves physically and mentally.

“The Vumba Community Trust holds the momentous mountain hiking once every month and it draws attention to participants from the Vumba community. To the MSUAS community, hosting this exclusive walk was more than assisting the institution on brand visibility but an initiative  to prepare the University to offer short courses in Tour guiding whilst improving the well-being of the University staff and students,” said Dr Makandwa, MSUAS Tourism Club Coordinator. Among the participants were students and staff members from Africa University, whilst among MSUAS staff members were Mr. V. Bhasera, Mr. N. Muchongwe, Mr. W. Madhombiro, Mrs. S. Moyo, Mr. T. Ndhlera among others.
