Mr. Amato Makandwa
Mr. Amato Makandwa, a seasoned professional in Library and Information Sciences, brings over 30 years of extensive experience to the field. He obtained his MSc in Library and Information Science from the National University of Science and Technology in 2008, following a BA in Media Studies from Zimbabwe Open University in 2004. With qualifications including a National Diploma in Public Relations and a National Certificate in Library and Information Science from Harare Polytechnic College in 1998, Mr. Makandwa has established a robust academic foundation. Currently serving as the founding Librarian at Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS), he rose through the ranks at Midlands State University, where he spent 8 years as an Assistant Librarian and subsequently as an acting Deputy Librarian. Throughout his tenure in Library and Information management, Mr. Makandwa has honed his professional skills and leadership abilities, demonstrating a strong ethical compass and a results-driven approach. Widely recognised as a versatile and invaluable manager in the information sector, his contributions have been instrumental in advancing the field. Additionally, Mr. Makandwa’s involvement as an Advisory Council Member for Gweru Polytechnic College underscores his commitment to the continuous enhancement of Information Science and Technology from 2012 to 2014.
