The following are Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) open educational resources (OER) available to students and staff. The resources are freely available and accessible to the MSUAS community. They can be downloaded, edited and shared.

AFRICAN DIGITAL LIBRARY

The African Digital Library has a collection of thousands of e-books that are freely available to users in Africa. The database requires individual registration in order to use its resources. The African Digital library covers several subject areas and can be acessed from anywhere over the internet.

AFRICAN PORTAL LIBRARY

A key feature to the Africa Portal is the online library collection holding over 3000 books, journals, and digital documents related to African policy issues. The entire online repository is open access and available for free full-text download.

ALEX CATALOGUE OF ELECTRONIC TEXTS ON THE INTERNET

The Alex Catalogue of Electronic Texts is a full-text indexed collection of classic American and English literature as well as Western philosophy in the public domain and written or translated into English.

ARCHIVE FOR THE HISTORY OF ECONOMIC THOUGHT

This archive is an attempt to collect in one place a large number of significant texts in the history of economic thought. Subjects covered include Economics and Economic History.

BAEN FREE LIBRARY

Baen Books is making available for free a number of its titles in electronic format. Baen covers Literature, History, Philosophy, Religion and the Arts.

BARTLEBY.COM

This is a database of e-books specializing in literature and History. Areas covered include Poetry and Verse, Fiction, Drama, English literature, American Literature and Classics.

BENTHAM EBOOKS

A collection of open access books.

BRILL ONLINE E-BOOKS

Brill’s publications focus on the Humanities and Social Sciences, International Law and selected areas in the Sciences.

CALIFORNIA DIGITAL LIBRARY

This database is maintained by the University of California and it provides access to e-books covering areas such as Environmental Science and Science and Technology.

CALIFORNIA DIGITAL LIBRARY ESCHOLARSHIP

UC Press E-Books Collection, 1982-2004, includes almost 2,000 books from academic presses on a range of topics, including art, science, history, music, religion, and fiction.

Please take note that only titles labelled “Public” are available in full text.

CARRIE : A FULL-TEXT ELECTRONIC LIBRARY

This is a digital library with links to collections of full-text documents and books relating to various historical topics.

CASCADILLA PROCEEDINGS PROJECT

The Cascadilla Proceedings provides full-text papers and documents from Linguistics conferences from around the world. This database specializes mainly in Linguistics and Literature.

CHRISTIAN CLASSICS ETHEREAL LIBRARY

This is a digital library of classic Christian books in electronic format. It provides full text access to many book titles centering on the Christian religion.

CORE HISTORICAL LITERATURE OF AGRICULTURE

Large collection of agriculture texts published in the 19th and 20th centuries. Scholars have selected the titles in this collection for their historical importance.

DigiLibraries.com offers a digital source of free eBooks for any taste, a vast range of titles in digital format. The aim of the site is to give quality, fast and required services for downloading and reading eBooks.

DIGITAL BOOK INDEX

Digital Book Index provides links to more than 165,000 full-text digital books from more than 1800 commercial and non-commercial publishers, universities, and various private sites. It contains books on Reference works, Social Sciences, Literature and Linguistics, History and the Arts.

DIGITAL CULTURE BOOKS

Digital Culture Books is an imprint of the University of Michigan Press dedicated to publishing innovative work in new media studies and digital humanities.

DIRECTORY OF OPEN ACCESS BOOKS

DOAB will provide a searchable index to peer-reviewed monographs and edited volumes published under an Open Access business model, with links to the full texts of the publications at the publisher’s website or repository.

EARLY MUSIC ONLINE

This collection holds digitised images of some of the world’s oldest surviving volumes of printed music. Early Music Online is the result of a pilot project in which more than 300 volumes of 16th-century music from the British Library were digitised from microfilm.

EBOOK CENTRAL

This is a multidisciplinary ebook collection covering a wide range of disciplines such as Law, Social Sciences, Religion, Arts, Life Sciences, Computer Science, Business and Economics and Education. Access to e-Brary is only available to users on the university network. eBrary can only be accessed from campus wide network.

Includes over 70,000 texts in history, literature, philosophy, religion, history of science.

Here is an uncategorized list of online programming books available for free download. The books cover all major programming languages: Ada, Assembly, Basic, C, C#, C++, CGI, JavaScript, Perl, Delphi, Pascal, Haskell, Java, Lisp, PHP, Prolog, Python, Ruby, as well as some other languages, game programming, and software engineering. The books are in various formats for online reading or downloading.

Google Books is a collection of electronic books sourced from various international publishers and libraries. The collection is multidisciplinary and consists of both full texts and excerpts.

A multidisciplinary database of e-Books spanning the fields of Science, Arts, Social Science and Humanities.

HUMAN SCIENCES RESEARCH COUNCIL PUBLICATIONS

The core business of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) is to conduct large-scale, policy-relevant, social-scientific projects for public-sector users, non-governmental organisations and international development agencies. It published books centred on human and infrastructure development.

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LAW LIBRARIES (IALL)

The International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) is a worldwide, cooperative non-profit organization of librarians, libraries, and other persons and institutions concerned with the acquisition, dissemination and use of legal information from sources other than their own jurisdictions. Founded in 1959, the IALL has over 400 members in more than 50 countries on five continents. Produced by the Modern Language Association (MLA), the electronic version of the bibliography dates back to the 1920s. The database contains millions of citations as well as full text for thousands of journals, books and dissertations covering all aspects of language, literature and linguistics. The platform is available through the EBSCOHOST platform.

MSRI BOOKS

Mathematical Sciences Research Institute Publications is a book series published by Cambridge University Press. It publishes books covering all branches of Mathematics.

The NAP publishes more than 200 books a year on a wide range of topics in Science, Engineering, and Health, capturing the most authoritative views on important issues in Science and Health Policy.

O’Reilly Open Books provides access to e-Books concentrating in Computer Science and Information and Communication Technologies.

OAPEN
