VICE CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE
- Executive Dean Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Environmental Sustainability (1 Post)
Reports To: Vice Chancellor
Contract: Four (4) years, full-time, renewable subject to satisfactory performance
Purpose of the Role
The Executive Dean is a member of the University’s Senior Management Team and serves as the Chief Academic and Administrative officer of the Faculty. The Dean provides strategic leadership, coordinates governance, and oversees the academic, administrative, and developmental functions of the Faculty in line with the University’s mission and the national higher education policy framework (Education 5.0).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide academic leadership in teaching, learning, research, innovation, and industrialisation.
- Position the Faculty within the National Higher Education Policy by promoting excellence in teaching, research, community service, innovation, and industrialisation.
- Plan, develop, and implement sound and innovative academic programmes that address national human capital development needs and industry relevance.
- Oversee the review and accreditation of academic programmes in accordance with Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) provisions and University regulations.
- Contribute to the formulation, development, implementation, and evaluation of academic and administrative policies.
- Ensure quality assurance of all Faculty programmes and activities.
- Lead budgetary planning, control, and allocation of resources in line with University financial regulations.
- Manage human resources activities including recruitment, staff development, and performance management in liaison with the Human Resources Department.
- Mobilise resources to support teaching, research, innovation, and industrialisation.
- Oversee the management of Faculty infrastructure and assets in collaboration with service departments.
- Develop collaborations and strategic partnerships with alumni, institutions, corporations, and government agencies.
- Foster a sense of community among Faculty staff and students.
- Advise the Vice Chancellor and Senate on academic and administrative matters relating to the Faculty.
- Undertake fundraising initiatives and establish linkages with industry, commerce, and professional bodies to support student internships, work-related learning, and research.

Qualifications and Experience
- An earned Masters in Agricultural Sciences or a related discipline from a reputable university.
- Proven track record in academic and administrative leadership, with the ability to provide sound academic direction.
- Evidence of research output and publications in relevant agricultural disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability in resource mobilisation for research, innovation, and industrialisation.
- Experience as a Department Chairperson or Deputy Dean is a prerequisite.

Reports To: Registrar
Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the Registrar, the incumbent should have a deep understanding and knowledge of human resources and university operations. The successful candidate must be mature, hardworking, reliable and prepared to work over and above the call of duty. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overseeing the Human Resource Section
- Developing, implementing and reviewing Human Resource policies, strategies and initiatives aligned with overall University’s strategic plan.
- Supporting current and future University human resource needs through the development, motivation and retention of the human resource.
- Reviewing and advancing the Human Resource strategy in accordance with University’s broad strategy and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Education 5.0 model.
- Instituting cost effective and integrated Human Resource models, processes and systems.
- Developing and coordinating organizational development initiatives that enhance institutional effectiveness and staff productivity.
- Facilitating the University’s performance management and promotion systems.
- Ensuring implementation of all regulatory frameworks pertaining to labour regulations and proposing changes to policies in line with changing labour legislations.
- Supporting the training function of the University and developing employee training programmes.

Purpose of the Position
The University seeks to appoint a highly qualified and experienced professional to the position of Director, Monitoring and Evaluation. The incumbent will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework and performance management system to assess the achievement of set targets, outputs, and outcomes across all University programmes. This role ensures systematic monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of institutional strategies, projects, and policies in line with national frameworks and organisational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the institutional Monitoring and Evaluation Framework aligned to the Strategic Plan.
- Formulate and review M&E policies, performance contracting guidelines, tools, and standards.
- Facilitate the development and periodic review of the University’s Strategic Plan.
- Develop the University Annual Plan document.
- Coordinate performance contracting and appraisal processes for Council, Senior Management, and staff.

Purpose of the Position
The Director University Secretariat provides leadership in the management of the University Committee system, ensuring effective governance processes that support the Vice Chancellor’s institutional targets. The incumbent safeguards the integrity of decision-making, facilitates communication between Council and University management, and ensures compliance with statutes, protocols, and best practice standards in higher education governance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Service major University Committees including Council, Executive Committee of Council and other Committees.
- Communicate and liaise with University Council on governance matters in consultation with the Registrar.
- Facilitate evaluation process of the University Council and ensures continuous improvement on governance systems.
- Manage all University committees, ensuring vibrancy and relevance of terms of reference and membership.
- Produce and maintain the annual University Diary of meetings.
- Capture, streamline, and track implementation of committee decisions, reporting progress to the Vice Chancellor through the Registrar.
- Prepare and submit monthly performance reports on committees to the Registrar.
- Liaise with Committee Chairpersons and provide guidance to Committee Secretaries on servicing committees and minute writing.
- Ensure proper record keeping, particularly electronic records, through management of the Minute Database.
- Supervise the Secretariat Department and staff, ensuring adherence to best practice standards.

Qualifications and Experience
- A first degree in English, Media Studies, Journalism, English and Communication, Public Administration, or Office Administration or any other related degree.
- A Master’s degree in any of the above fields (or Strategic and Corporate Governance) is a prerequisite.
- At least three (3) years’ post-qualification experience in secretarial and administrative work within a tertiary education environment.

Reports to Director Monitoring and Evaluation
The position supports the Director Monitoring and Evaluation in strengthening institutional planning, performance management, program monitoring, and reporting. The role ensures compliance with Integrated Result Based Management (IRBM) standards, enhances transparency, and promotes continuous improvement across the University.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in preparing strategic documents, including Strategic Plan, Annual Plan, Performance Contracts, departmental plans and individual work plans.
- Supporting the development, monitoring, and evaluation of performance contracts, work plans, and tract progress against KPIs.
- Assisting in designing and implementation monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tool, and methodologies.
- Coordinating data collection, validation, and analysis across all departments to inform institutional planning and reporting.
- Assisting in monitoring implementation of institutional projects and programs, and prepare draft evaluation reports, dashboard, and presentations in compliance with IRBM standards.
- Facilitating training sessions, provide technical guidance, and promote accountability and transparency across the University.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evalution/ Project Management/ Statistics/Economics/ Development Studies/ Public Policy or related fied.
- A relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in higher education or the public sector.
- Strong knowledge of IRBM systems, government reporting requirements, and accountability framework.
- Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, research methodologies, and evaluation frameworks.
- Proficiency in statistical/analytical software (SPSS, STATA, R, or equivalent) is a distinct advantage.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
