Minister Shava commends MSUAS developments

The Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, Honourable Dr. Fredrick Shava, has applauded Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) for its remarkable strides in institutional development.

Speaking during a familiarisation tour of the university’s Fernhill Campus in Mutare, Minister Shava commended MSUAS for its commitment to infrastructure growth and agricultural projects.

I would like to commend the university for its impressive progress in construction projects and agricultural initiatives at the Innovation and Agro-Industrial Park in Headlands. These projects reflect the university’s dedication to supporting Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) by offering innovative solutions that contribute to national industrialisation and economic transformation. We have high expectations for MSUAS due to its strategic mandate and the remarkable work it is undertaking. As the university advances, the government will continue to support its projects. His Excellency, President Cde ED Mnangagwa, envisions universities as key drivers of the economy, and it is commendable that MSUAS is actively pursuing this vision,said Honourable Shava.

During the tour, the Minister also praised MSUAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Chawanda, for his leadership and the progress made in infrastructure development. He was particularly impressed by the agricultural activities at the Innovation and Agro-Industrial Park in Headlands, as well as the ongoing construction of student residences.

In response, Professor Chawanda expressed his gratitude to the government for its unwavering support of infrastructure and agricultural development at MSUAS.

Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences deeply appreciates the support it receives from the government. All the sites visited today have benefited from government assistance. We are privileged to continuously receive financial and material support from the ministry, and we do not take it for granted,said Prof. Chawanda.

The tour was attended by the Deputy Minister for Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, Honourable Simelisizwe Sibanda, the Director for Higher Education Programmes, Dr Dennis Murekachiro, as well as MSUAS principal officers and senior management.
