1. DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL AND PROCESSING ENGINEERING
1.1 Lecturer (3 Posts)

  Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate must be capable of teaching and supervising undergraduate students’ research work, carry out research and should be able to teach at least three (3) of the following modules:

Transport Phenomena.
Separation Process.
Computational Methods for Chemical Engineers.
Heat Transfer.
Process Dynamics.
Modelling and Control.
Process Management.
Economics and Optimisation.
Fuels and Energy.
Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics.
Fluid-solid Systems.

             Qualifications and Experience

Masters in Chemical Engineering or Equivalent.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Equivalent.
A PGDE qualification is an added advantage.
A PhD in the related field is a distinct advantage.

2. DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED STATISTICS
2.1 Lecturer (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate must be capable of teaching and supervising undergraduate students’ research work, carry out research and should be able to teach at least three (3) of the following modules:

Regression Analysis and ANOVA.
Probability Theory.
Engineering Mathematics.
V Time Series Analysis.
Statistical Inference.

            Qualifications and Experience

Masters in Statistics/Applied Statistics or equivalent.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/Applied Statistics or equivalent.
A PhD in Statistics or equivalent is an added advantage.
A PGDE qualification is a distinct advantage.

3. DEPARTMENT OF MINING AND MINERAL PROCESSING ENGINEERING

3.1 Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering

​​Lecturer (1 Post)​​

Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate must be capable of teaching and supervising undergraduate students’ research work, carry out research and should be able to teach at least three (3) of the following modules:

Rock Mechanics,
Mine Machinery and
Rock Breaking.

            Qualifications and Experience

MSc/ MEng in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
BSc/ BEng in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
A PhD in Mining Engineering or equivalent is an added advantage.
A PGDE qualification is a distinct advantage.

3.2     Metallurgy

​​Lecturer -(2 Posts)​​

Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate must be capable of teaching and supervising undergraduate students’ research work, carry out research and should be able to teach at least three (3) of the following modules:

Mineral Processing,
Hydrometallurgy,
Welding Technology,
Heat and Mass Transfer,
Pyro Metallurgy and
Refractory and Slag Chemistry.

            Qualifications and Experience

MSc/ MEng in Metallurgy or equivalent.
BSc/ BEng in Metallurgy or equivalent.
A PhD in Metallurgy or equivalent is an added advantage.
A PGDE qualification is a distinct advantage.

​​Please note that the duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior ​​Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 ​​     pillars of education 5.0 as follows:

I. Teaching

The incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and/or Faculty guidelines and standards.

II. University Service and Community Engagement

The incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty/School and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences, committees and seminars, among others.

III. Research

The incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University.

IV. Innovation

The incumbent is expected to engage in innovations which should lead to production of goods and services.

V. Industrialisation

The incumbent is expected to be industrial through commercialisation of goods and services.
