In his welcome remarks at the official opening ceremony, MSUAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Chawanda represented by the University Librarian, Mr Amato Makandwa expressed gratitude to individuals and students for gracing the colourful tournament as well as giving MSUAS the opportunity to host the biggest event for all universities in Zimbabwe.
“We are honoured to once again host this prestigious event, a testament of trust and confidence placed in MSUAS by ZUSA Patron, Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa and his dedicated team. This opportunity has allowed us to showcase our university as a premier institution for academic excellence and athletic achievement. I encourage students to stay focused, maintain a positive attitude and strive to leave a lasting legacy. Let your participation in these games be a source of pride for yourselves, your universities and communities we live in.
”Commenting about the games as the guest of honour, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza represented by Acting Deputy Director in the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture Mr Prince Mutsvunguma highlighted that the main theme of the tournament is essential as it addresses the critical intersection between education, talent and the broader socio-economic landscape.
“In today’s world, the talents of university students are not only valuable assets but commodities that can drive economic growth and social change. As we gather to celebrate athletic prowess, we must also recognise the broader implication of talents- how they can be harnessed to benefit ourselves, our communities and the nation.
”The annual sports extravaganza is hosted annually to provide a complete learning experience for university students.
