Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences, in partnership with UNESCO’s Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future (O3Plus) project, continues to empower students through a capacity building programme for peer educators.
A three-day workshop which focused on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Gender Based Violence (GBV) and, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) was held at the MSUAS main campus
By equipping peer educators with accurate information, the programme aims to create a network of student leaders who can effectively disseminate knowledge and resources to their peers,
The initiative ultimately strives to improve educational outcomes, as well as empower students to create informed choices on their sexual health and well-being.
Representing O3 Plus Project, Cluster Coordinator Atolia Phiri said;
“Training peer educators with accurate information is crucial for O3 Plus project. This empowers them to become a network of student leaders who effectively disseminate knowledge and resources to their peers. As a result, students are better equipped to make informed choices regarding their sexual health and well-being.”
Other organisations which were present to support the project include Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC), SayWhat and National Aids Council.
