Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) demonstrated its strong commitment to inclusivity by participating at the 35th edition of the Danhiko Annual Paralympic Games, held from 18–21 September 2025 in Harare.
Among the student-athletes who represented the university were Dylan Nyarumwe, Tanatswa Magwaza and Belinda Zhou, who earned recognition for their creativity, resilience and skill in wheelchair basketball as well as track and field events.
Running under the theme “Inclusive Disability Sport, Leaving No One Behind,” the Games provided a platform for athletes with disabilities to showcase their talent across a wide range of disciplines.
Speaking at the official opening, Guest of Honour Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Lieutenant General (Rtd) Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, represented by Deputy Minister Hon. Emily Jesaya, emphasised that the Games embody values of inclusion, equality, and empowerment.
“The Danhiko Paralympic Games are more than just a sporting event. They are a global movement that challenges perceptions about disability and celebrates the extraordinary achievements of athletes with physical impairments. The message of inclusion and empowerment resonates far beyond sport. It calls on us to build a more inclusive society where people with disabilities are recognised and valued,” Hon. Sanyatwe said.
MSUAS’s participation at the Games not only reflects its dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals but also underscores the university’s growing reputation as a hub of both academic excellence and athletic talent.
