Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS), in conjunction with Sight Life Solutions, recently conducted a fire-fighting workshop for all MSUAS staff members at the main campus in Mutare.
The main thrust of the workshop was to educate all teaching and non-teaching staff on the basic nature of fire, causes of its breakout and how to prevent and manage it when the circumstance arises.
The importance of fire safety was highlighted by citing real-life examples, including demonstrating the use of fire-fighting gadgets through the guidance of Sight Life Solutions.
In his welcome remarks, MSUAS Registrar, Dr Kudzayiishe Mudzingwa, applauded the university for organizing such an initiative as it assists in the protection of university infrastructure and employees from fire breakouts..
“Such training initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing the skills and preparedness of our firefighting personnel and responders to effectively respond to emergencies and protect communities. This is one strategy we are working on to improve fire and rescue services at the university,” said Dr Mudzingwa.
The workshop was also attended by staff members from the University’s Innovation and Agro-Industrial Park.
