MSUAS SHINES AT SAYWHAT QUIZ COMPETITIONS

Two students from Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences raised the university’s flag high in colourful SayWhat Quiz Competitions which were held in Harare recently.

MSUAS students scooped third position ahead of eleven universities, namely, Midlands State University (MSU), University of Zimbabwe (UZ), National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE), Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (MUAST), Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), Gwanda State University (GSU), Harare Institute of Technology(HIT), Great Zimbabwe University (GZU), Lupane State University (LSU) and Women’s University in Africa (WUA) as they show-cased their knowledge and commitment to addressing issues of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). The SayWhat Quiz Competitions ran under the theme: “A Decade of Action: Students Unpacking and Pushing for Global Goals”.

Team MSUAS was represented by Blessing Mukazika and Oslie Murambiwa who made an incredible jump from eleventh position in the previous year to the third spot and walked away with Samsung smart phones,Commenting on the quiz competition, Blessing Mukazika said;“I am delighted to have represented Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences alongside my colleague Oslie Murambiwa in the prestigious 2024 University Quiz Challenge powered by SayWhat and the Swedish Embassy in Zimbabwe. We performed very well compared to last year. The competitions served as an incredible platform to empower and educate young people in Zimbabwe and beyond.”

Coach to the team, Atolia Phiri, also highlighted that; “Securing the third position is a remarkable achievement for the Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences team. This achievement is part of the University’s frantic efforts to promote Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights amongst students and the community.”

The event is part of the multi-sectorial efforts being undertaken by the university’s Division of Student Affairs to improve the quality of lives of students throughout their academic journey at MSUAS.
