The Chairman of the Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) Council, Dr. Blessing Mudavanhu, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Chawanda, the University Council, Senate, Staff, Alumni and Students warmly congratulate Mr. Amato Makandwa on his appointment as the MSUAS Librarian with effect from 1 September 2024.

Mr. Makandwa brings over 30 years of experience in Library and Information Sciences. He earned his Master’s of Science in Library and Information Science from the National University of Science and Technology in 2008 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from Zimbabwe Open University, which he completed in 2004. Additionally, Mr. Makandwa possesses a National Diploma in Public Relations and a National Certificate in Library and Information Science, both awarded by Harare Polytechnic College in 1998.

Since February 2018, he has been serving as Deputy Librarian at MSUAS. Prior to this role, he spent eight years as Assistant Librarian at Midlands State University, from June 2005 to February 2014. He also held the position of Acting Deputy Librarian from March 2014 until February 2018. With extensive experience in Information Management, Mr. Makandwa has developed professional and leadership expertise that is vital in the field.

MSUAS looks forward to the positive impact Mr. Makandwa will make in enhancing our teaching and learning; and supporting our community, particularly in promoting innovation, industrialisation and commercialisation.
