A rapture of celebrations engulfed MSUAS on the 26th of November 2021 when its first cohort of twenty students graduated at a Blended Graduation Ceremony held at Midlands State University, Main Campus in Gweru.
The event saw the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Chancellor of MSUAS, His Excellency Cde, Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa conferring degrees to 20 graduands, with four graduands graduating with prizes and awards. The pioneering graduands were drawn from the departments of Agricultural Economics and Development, Chemical and Processing Engineering, Information Systems and Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering.
“The graduation of our first cohort of students is significantly important to us and the community as it is a story of gallantry, valour and hard work as the institution comes of age. We remain committed to producing innovative and industry-relevant graduates in line with Education 5.0. MSUAS is geared to make a solid impact on the academic and industry landscape and this graduation is a testament of our resolution to pursue this impact,” said Professor Albert Chawanda, the Vice-Chancellor of MSUAS.
The ceremony kicked-off with a keynote speech from Professor V. N. Muzvidziwa, the Vice Chancellor of Midlands State University followed by the joyous conferment of degrees by the Chancellor of the two Universities, Cde Dr. E. D. Mnangagwa.
Among those who graduated with various awards were Shamiso Bande (BSc Information Systems Honours Degree), Lawrence Munyuki (BSc Agriculture Economics and Development Honours Degree), Judah Chikwereti (Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Processing Honours Degree) and Jerald Masukwedza (Bachelor of Engineering in Mining and Mineral Processing Honours Degree). The blended graduation ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Hon Prof. dr. A Murwira , Mrs Kachere Vice Chairperson of Council, and various government officials.
The university is glad to seed its ‘FIRST FRUIT’ to the nation as its premium contribution towards the attainment of vision 2030.
